Most of our layering rugs can be machine washed.
Before you get started, what kind of washing machine do you have?
- Front loading washers are best for washing your rug, and we recommend using 2 old towels to balance your load.
- Top loading washers can be harsher on your rug so use a gentler cycle. DO NOT attempt to wash a rug with tassels as they could get tangled in your washer causing damage to both your rug and your machine.
- Shake it out outside to get as much dirt and debris off. You can also vacuum it if you are using them inside.
- Machine wash on cold settings with a mild liquid detergent free of harsh dyes. (Refer to washer types to find tips on your specific type of washer)
- Hang dry is the best option to avoid the dryer shrinking and warping the rug. You can tumble your rug in the dryer for a few minutes when it’s almost done hang drying to get most of the wrinkles out. Otherwise, the wrinkles should be gone after a few days lying flat.
- Make sure it is dry before placing it back down to avoid growing mold or mildew.
