Coir doormats are excellent for trapping dirt and debris, but they require regular cleaning, especially if you have higher foot traffic.
- Go Outside to an area where you can easily sweep up or discard loose fibers and other debris. Don’t shake your mat over your layering rug!
- Shake it out by grabbing both corners on the shorter side and giving it a gentle to medium shake depending on how dirty it is. There will be a lot of loose fibers and dust! You’d be surprised how much they can trap and keep out of your house!
- Do not grab your coir mat by the middle and shake. This could cause tears in your mat especially as your mat gets older and the rubber becomes more brittle.
- Repeat every 2-4 weeks depending on how much foot traffic and dust you get.
